Over the past year, I have had a lot of interest in senior guy portrait sessions (and yes, I do do them). Now, I definitely don’t do nearly as many senior guys as girls, but I have definitely found a new love for photographing guys. I am a mother of two girls, so I have no idea what’s it like to be around boys (they have cooties, right?). I have to admit, in the beginning, I was intimidated and wasn’t sure I wanted to include senior guy options. Boy, am I glad I changed my mind! Of course, the experience is a little different from my senior girl portrait experience, but I began to realize that just like mothers want their daughters to have this experience, that mothers that have sons also want their sons to have this experience and document this moment.
When Tara approached me about doing Tyler’s senior portraits, I was super excited. Tyler’s session was my first opportunity to photograph out on the football field, and I LOVED IT! When Tyler and his mom came in for his consultation, we decided that he wanted to keep his session simple but still wanted to hit locations with an urban background, a little country with his Jeep, and of course the football field. For my senior guy sessions, I always suggest bringing at least one dressier outfit, along with more casual ones that the guys are more comfortable in. I absolutely loved the jacket Tyler brought to go with a simple button-up shirt and slacks! I feel like no matter the session is, it is always important to incorporate your passions, which we did with the football field and going out to the lake with his jeep.
Leave them speechless! Capturing bold, unique portraits that capture you in this moment.
